2. Location Data Collection and Usage

A. Collection of Location Data

Our application accesses and collects precise location data (GPS and network-based coordinates) when you open the Home screen or navigate to the Activity Map screen. We collect location data only while the application is actively in use in the foreground. We do not track or collect your location when the app is closed or running in the background.

B. Purpose of Location Collection

We use your location data strictly to provide core features within the app:

• Header Display & Search Defaults: To reverse-geocode your location and display your current city, state, and country on the Home screen header, as well as pre-fill relevant search criteria.
• Nearby Activities & Mapping: To center the map on your current location (displaying a “you are here” position marker) and to retrieve and display nearby activities within a 50 km radius.
• User-Generated Posts: When you voluntarily publish or post an activity on the map, the geographic coordinates associated with that activity are saved.

C. Data Sharing and Third Parties

To fulfill the functions above, your location coordinates are transmitted securely over HTTPS to:

• Google Maps & Geocoding APIs: To render map interfaces and convert geographic coordinates into readable address details (city/state/country).
• Our Backend Servers: To query and return activities near your position and store activity locations you choose to publish.

D. Data Storage and Retention

We do not store raw GPS coordinates locally on your device; only your resolved country name is cached in local app storage to improve loading performance. Raw coordinates processed on our servers are used only to fulfill nearby search requests, except for coordinates attached to activities you explicitly choose to create and publish.

We use your information to:

• Create and manage your account
• Process trip bookings and payments
• Connect travelers and trip hosts
• Send updates, confirmations, and notifications
• Improve user experience and personalize content
